Jax Now 3 years old

Jax is now 3 years old and still a baby in many ways. He has a trick here were he jumps up to the settee knocks the pillow off and then makes him self at home. We are still having problems with Staffies as he has been attacked several times by these types of dog so now we have to take care if he sees one he will kick off big style and he is a big dog to hold back when he is trying to have a go. If he gets any sort of pull hes away have a 6inch loose lead and thats all he needs to get power going.

The owners of these dogs are mad at xmas I had Jax on the lead crossed the road in West St at night and a staffie came out of a house and attacked him knocked us into the road were a bmw hit me not hard they called the police as they saw what happened so there were 5 witness. The staffy owners said it was my fault the officer said we have 5 witness who saw the man with his dog on the lead when yours was running loose and attacked how can it be the mans fault?

Jax now 2 years old and has just had his booster injections. This time they have to have 2 injections as new strains of infection from rats have been found and the old injection only covered 2 strains but now there are 5 types. He was weighed while at the vets and now 40kg so he is putting on weight slowly. He still has 5 hours exercise a day but as the weather has been really hot we have knocked the main walk out as its to hot for him. After he snapped his lead the makers have promised us a new one when they bring out a new version in September. This hot weather we have been freezing hot dogs and food in ice and he loves that in in Alaska at –60 everything would be frozen anyway

Jax Gets Dirty

Jax is now 22 months old and still loves to get dirty given half a chance. Let him go in a field with one muddy patch and he will find it then dig it or lie in it. He is still like a puppy and get very excited at times he now has 3 walks a day so about 4 hours a day walking which seems to suit in the current weather. The problem being the colder or wetter the weather the more he want to walk.

He is still a fussy eater and has gone off tinned dog meat in favour of steak pies which he has with complete dog food, he still loves his pizza

I am as big as a Tree

Jax has started putting on weight at long last any time now he should start to fill out. He is now 86lbs so he has put on a couple of kg in the last few months xmas  food.

With winter he is getting more active and at night he likes to start towing me for walks if I am not careful. We have had troubles with fireworks big bangs he doesnt bother to much but ones going up in the sky he doesnt like and all over xmas some one has let them off.  He remembers were he heard them and is reluctant to go that way for a long time after.

Jax Chills

We have had Fireworks this month and Jax doesnt like it, the daft bit a big bang he doesnt bother but some smaller ones he goes mad and try's to crawl home. The problem being that its not just 5th November but a week either side and he remembers if he heard a bang and doesnt want to go that way again. It takes a few weeks without any for a dog to get over it. Above he like chilling in the garden mostly lying on the plants.

Here he is with the duck one of his favourite toys which he like to kill over and over again.

My seat get off it

As we go to the Queens Park Crewe most days Jax has taken up residence in his own seat and he sits there  proud as punch watching the ducks and squirrels. He is very good with all the wildlife and will just watch them most of the time. He sometimes has a little bounce at them if the run away. He has now worked out that at traffic lights he waits at the kerb but he has worked out now if it beeps then its time to cross clever little sod. His new trick is the local cafe/butchers he lay outside the open door the other day as he smelt food and the man came out  and gave him a sausage as he wouldnt move till he did. He now try this trick every time he sees the door is open.  

Whose a clever Boy then?

Jax is now 17 months old and has put on a bit of weight they are supposed to fatten out from now to 2 years. We gave him a chew the other day and he ran outside and dropped it in his water bowl cam in and had a rest then went out to get it. He has worked out for himself that putting it in water softens it. He worked out to bark to be let out and bark to come back in. If we dont let him in then hes worked out to come around to the living room window jump up at the window and bark if we dont here him at the back door.

He get crafty as well to get him in from the garden at night as he likes to sleep out side until bed time we give him a treat for coming in. He then trys to run out once hes eaten it so he can have another one for coming in the second time.

Jax Stupid positions

He then hangs off the end and often falls off in the excitement

Jumping on the back so he can look out of the window is another trick of his if you happen to be on the chair at the time he doesnt care

Its then playing hide and seek I see you as he trys to paw you

Jax eats a lot

Jax has had a mad half hour eating this week some weeks he may not eat very much then another he doesnt want to stop. The weather ha been a bit cooler this week which will account for it when its hot he doesnt want to eat. He is fattening out slowly no  he is 16 months and they do tend to change about now and then again at 2 years. He is generally a lot more laid back  now than he was he still howls when the Police or Ambulance goes past with the siren on

Jax lays on the grass

When he is out Jax loves laying on grass so we made a little lawn for him at home that was a few weeks ago and he has not been near it. Today he decided he likes it and lay on it for the first time. He is now 16 months old and has changed over the last few weeks getting much calmer he can still be an idiot puppy at times but generally he is much more chilled out. He walk well and doesnt pull on the lead as a rule and walks with a  loose lead even if he walks in front. He does if he get in front turn his ears back to listen to you. We are trying to get him out of the habit of lying down when he meets another dog as a pup it was ok as its shows submissive posterior but a few Staffies think it great to then attack him and it also frightens some dogs as he often jumps up very quick. So we are trying to make him sit quietly.  

Messing Around

Jax is now 16 months old and is mellowing out a lot but still has the puppy streak in him when he get excited. Its still been hot for him in the day and he just sleeps but he is ready for a game of wrestling or race the bike. He still hasnt lost all his fur and its still coming out of him everywhere 

Jax Battles the water monsters

With the weather being so hot this week Jax has been battling the water monsters he likes to wash his feet when its hot it helps to keep him cool

But the water monster AKA the hose pipe he has to have a go at he try's to attack it or drink it all at once you think  he would lie down in the water but he just like to get his feet and mouth wet. It has been a mess being so hot for a dog that has lots of fur and designed to live at –60 is far to hot for him all he wants to do is sleep. WE have to take him out a night when its cooler

It Hot Time to Chill

Its been very hot this week and its been to hot to take Jax out in the midday sun so we have to take him out further at night. In the day he just wants to chill how he can be comfortable lying like this I dont know. He is still loosing his coat its been a few weeks now and he still has a lot to go by the time he gets a summer coat it will be time for a winter one.

Jax Has a booster

Time and has soon gone and Jax was due his booster. We often pop in the vets to weight him so there is no problems going. He didnt even feel the needle as he was to busy eating a biscuit. He is still loosing his fur by the time he has lost it all it will be time for a new winter coat. He has decided he likes bacon now so some fried bacon and biscuits and he wolfs it down. He still loves pizza and bread and peanut butter.

Jax Gets a Harness

Jax has got a new harness. He walks very good most of the time but does pull when he sees another dog or get excited so we are trying a none pull harness and it seems to work 90% of the time its a bit fiddle to get on as you have to put it over his head and then put a foot in each loop. He is getting the hang of it and does put his foot in ok  most of the time he seems to like it ok as it only tightens around his chest when he pulls. He is still loosing lots of fur but starting to look a bit better but he seems thin as before all the fur hid it. He walks for 5 hours a day so he is all muscle there is no fat on him. There is always food available to him 24/7 so he isnt lacking in food

Jax has a paddle

With the hot weather we have got Jax a paddling pool to keep him cool on hot days. Who get the wettest the dog or us is another matter. He is loosing his winter coat still and looks really patchy with big bald patches were his new fur is shorter than the long winter coat. Brushing twice daily produces load of fur and he look like another dog. He has great fun in the water throwing water out of the pool then running in the house soaking wet
